Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is the mountain where Moses was reputed to have seen the "promised land," and where he supposedly died, was buried, and raised to heaven.

The site of the Church of Moses, built by the early Christians, is now purely a memorial and place of pilgrimage.

Many temples and churches have been built on this site, and an early Christian monastery with stunning mosaic floors has been excavated.

There are great views over the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and into the West Bank, but seeing the 60 kilometres to Jerusalem says something about his eighty year old eyes.
